You Asked: Sea salt vs table salt

One reader asked, "What is the difference between sea salt and table salt?"

In short, both sea salt and common table salt are the same. Both are sodium chloride.  However, the difference is that normal table salt commonly has iodine added during processing, while the iodine in sea salt evaporates off during drying. Iodine is especially important in regions where goiter is a problem1.
